About the Pastoral
Leadership Academy
We are a ministry designed to provide resources and training for clergy and local churches. Our featured service is our Pastoral Leadership Academy, a ministerial leadership and renewal seminar offered in four week-long sessions over two years. This retreat-style seminar focuses on personal development, creating a vision for ministry, leading change, managing conflict and building quality teams.
Our ministry is led by Tom Brodbeck. Tom has over 25 years of ministry experience, including 10 years of conference and denominational leadership. In that capacity, he supervised 150 ministers and 57 churches over a three state region.
A two-fold passion drives Tom’s ministry. He is committed to seeing ministers develop their own ministry effectiveness. In addition, he has a deep desire to see churches experience renewal.
Tom is a graduate of Huntington College (Huntington, IN), the Graduate School of Christian Ministries (Huntington, IN), the Anderson School of Theology (Anderson, IN). He is completing his Doctor of Philosophy degree (ABD status) at Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA), with an emphasis on ministerial effectiveness.
Ordained in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, he served as a pastor for 16 years prior to his tenure as Conference Superintendent. He has also served as chairman of his denomination’s Commission on Ministry and Discipline Revision Commission.
Tom married his high school sweetheart Karen. They are the parents of three children: Amy, Thomas and Alyssa.
Other things about Tom:
- He enjoys doing the normal “Dad” things, which includes attending concerts and ball games.
- He is active in several community groups.
- In his spare time, he enjoys rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds, reading biographies and attending the theatre.
- He humbly admits to being a very bad golfer.
